Colosseum’s Full Experience ticket — where to buy and is it worth it?
I have heard about Colosseum’s Full Experience ticket and thinking of getting it. But does it actually give you the full experience?
Before I book, I just wanted help from fellow travellers to know what’s included and if it is worth it.
The Full Experience ticket sounds big, but it’s actually quite specific.
It includes:
It is a good Colosseum ticket for history lovers but it doesn’t include the Underground. And if you ask me, that’s where the “real” full experience is.
- One entry to the Colosseum (at your booked time)
- One entry to the Arena, Roman Forum, Palatine, Imperial Fora and SUPER Sites either the day before, same day, or next day
It is a good Colosseum ticket for history lovers but it doesn’t include the Underground. And if you ask me, that’s where the “real” full experience is.
In March 2025 we did both the tours. The Full Experience is a decent tour if you love archaeology and details, but when I walked the Underground, it felt totally different. My kids also loved it more. Seeing the elevators, tunnels, of the Underground and the arena floor makes the Colosseum come alive.
Here’s the one I booked: Small Group Underground Tour.
Agree with you Mary. The Full Experience is just a “Forum expansion pack.”
The Underground Tour gives you the *exclusive* access people want. You see the floor level, ancient corridors, and even behind-the-scenes areas…which for me was the best. If you want to feel what gladiators did before walking into the arena, go Underground.
In August 2024 we visited Underground at night. My suggestion is do not skip the after-dark Underground Tour – it is stunning. There are fewer people, cooler air, and the whole arena glows under moonlight.
The guide I had was also excellent. She made us feel as if we were in ancient Rome.
If you want the complete Colosseum experience, book Underground Tour. It covers everything that matters (Colosseum, Arena, Forum areas) in one go.
I havent been on a Full Experience tour, but it misses the one spot everyone talks about: the Underground.
I have been to the Underground with my parents. Its the only tour lets you stand where gladiators waited before battle.
It’s guided too, so you get context instead of wandering.
In short, Full Experience is solid for extra Forum sites, but if you want to feel the Colosseum rather than just see it, go for the one where you spend 30 minutes exploring the Underground passageways with your guide.
I’ll second that. My wife and I thought the Underground Tour was cinematic. Very surreal. You walk beneath the arena, see how the machinery works, and then emerge onto the floor like a gladiator. For storytelling, photos, and atmosphere, it beats every other ticket type.
